Religion:We will learn about Creation, the Holy Bible, the Mass, Sacraments and Prayer. The Seasons and Saints within the Church will be discussed. Open minds and hearts will allow us to accept Jesus into our daily lives.
Language Arts: Vocabulary, fluency, phonemic awareness and comprehension will be incorporated into our Reading program as we partake in the ventures of realism vs. fantasy. Oral and quiet time reading along with reader theater will enhance their creativity and enjoyment of reading. S.R. A. will be implemented on a weekly basis.
Our curriculum challenges the mind working with number variances. Ordering and sequencing of numbers along with the operations of addition and subtraction. Place value of numbers will be incorporated along with two digit addition and subtraction. Graphing, money, time, geometry of plane-solid shapes will lead to interesting discoveries. Symmetry, fractions and measurement take us into our environment. Problem solving with enhanced vocabulary usage takes us further into the non-fiction stories of mathematical concepts.
Science: Topics will vary throughout the school year. Hands on Projects and experimentation will lead to opening of inquisitive minds. Ocean life, animals of hibernation and extinction. Friction, electricity, sound, plant life, types of rocks, seasons, weather-climate will assist with understanding their environment and the world they live in. Learning about their five senses , body functions, exercise and nutrition will lead to healthier lifestyles. Social Studies: Current news topics will be discussed on a daily basis through National Geographic Series along with Scholastic Weekly Reader. Learning Map Skills of location, direction and land formation. Study the U.S.A within the North America continent introduced with our other six continents. Community services and careers will be presented throughout the school year. |
